International Sherry Week
This year marks the sixth year of International Sherry Week, an event that gathers thousands of sherry lovers across more than 30 countries. Every year Jaleo offers a variety of specials and events to celebrate one of our favorite weeks.
La Competición de Venencia | Jaleo DC | November 5
Come to Jaleo to watch as teams from your favorite D.C. industry spots – like Estadio, the D.C. Craft Bartenders Guild, Mola, and more – celebrate International Sherry Week with DC's First Sherry Venenciador Competition!
Grab a glass of Gonzalez Byass sherry and watch as D.C. masters of the craft face off to test their skills with a venencia, the traditional Andalusian tool for sampling sherry directly from the barrel. Cheer your favorite venenciadors as they plunge and pour in style in a high-stakes battle.

So…What Is Sherry?
In Spain, sherry is the ideal pre-meal aperitif. It can only be made in one place, the area lying between Jerez de la Frontera, Puerto de Santa María and San Lucar de Barrameda in the province of Cádiz, also known as the “Sherry Triangle.” There are many different types of sherry, from dry to floral to a bit sweet. At Jaleo, we carry a variety of premium sherries and our team can guide you to select a glass that is perfect for you
